Tips for reducing your phone bills
Telephone bills can really rack up, especially now that the majority of people have a mobile phone as well as a land line telephone. There are some things that you can do, however, to mitigate your household phone costs.
1) Make sure you call 'smart' by taking advantage of any deals and bundles that are being offered by your service provider. You will probably need to be proactive in doing this, rather than waiting for your phone company to come to you.
2) Make sure that you aren't paying for any 'extras' such as Caller ID, itemised billing or paper statements. You may not even know you are paying for them as they have been added to your phone service by your provider. Check all your bills carefully, to see exactly what you're paying for and get rid of anything that you don't need or want.
3) Rather than using your phone, why not Skype instead? It's free!
4) Shop around to see if you can get a better deal with another provider. The chances are that once a phone company has got its clutches into you they will stop offering you the best bonuses or discounts.
5) Finally - and this is pretty extreme - swap your home phone for a payphone. This could save you $000s if you've got a couple of teenagers living at home...
Anyone got any other tips for saving money on phone bills?

Also look at other alternative options such as skype or viber. Those options will save you a couple of bucks on phone calls.

Another option to make calls is Google Voice. You will have a new number and can make calls through your computer. Although, I believe carriers are trying to find ways to close the loopholes, but plenty of people have been able to save a lot of money on their cell phone by making their GV number one of their fave five or putting it under their friends and family status, so they can capitalize on the benefits that those titles provide.
