Tips for Couponing
Have you ever seen Extreme Couponing? The individuals claim to spend up to 30 hours per week organizing and keeping up with their coupon system.
There are some quick tips that you can follow to get the "biggest bang for your buck" when using coupons.
1. Match coupons with the weekly deals your local store is offering. It doesn't take too long to flip through the weekly ads to see what is on sale that you also have a coupon for. This is the best way to save the most with your coupons.
2. Don't use coupons just to use them. If you do not normally but the item, you are actually spending more money. Only use coupons for things you already buy if you truly want to save.
3. Some stores offer coupon doubling. Use you biggest coupons ($1-$1.50 off) on these days to save even more
4. Organize coupons by expiration date so they are less likely to get missed and go to waste.
Always check your local stores coupon policies, as every store has different guidelines!

Re: Coupons
I like using coupons and rewards! The best thing for me with all my dogs is the local Petco will provide me with a variety of rebates for spending a hundred dollars in the store. When you have six dogs you will go through a hundred bucks in food in no time flat. In fact, that is about how much I spend on a weekly basis at the pet store. So I end up getting at least five to twenty bucks back each month!
So in addition to the coupons, you can use some of the different stores rewards programs to help you in getting even more savings! You just have to watch the programs to see what they are looking for.

Re: Coupons
It's so easy and everyone is so lazy! With the cost of things so high why not take the time? I also watch for new store openings as they will have special offers to let the town know they are open.

Re: Coupons
Visit sites like http://www.retailmenot.com and http://www.slickdeals.com before you order that Pizza or ride out to the clothing store. These sites will have tons of deals for tons of stores (online and real life). You never know, you might get some free Cinnamon Sticks with that Pizza, or a nice 20% off with those jeans you intend to buy.

Re: Tips for Couponing
I actually thought of something else that I did not mention the other day. To organize your coupons better, you may want to use a binder with the baseball card sleeves. These sleeves allow you to organize the coupons better. Then you just have to take the coupons out when you need them. You can easily organize them and know what you have and how much it will save you!

Re: Tips for Couponing
Thanks for this. It's unfortunate that I love in California so there isn't many smaller chain stores. All we have is Walmarts, Targets, Stater Bros, etc.. Does anyone know where I could get really nice coupons for stores such as these?

Re: Tips for Couponing
I have tried coupons but I just can't seem to understand why others could save hundreds of dollars while I could only muster a few dollars worth of savings. What's your secret on this one?

Re: Tips for Couponing
the amount of time you put into it. you can save hundreds by checking the prices of the base items and combining the coupons with say double or triple coupon day at the store or something similar. it just takes planning everything out
If you only have enough information to write one line it may be possible however improbable that you are simply not as expert as you think you are.

I read an article on Extreme Couponing and the people on there save more than most people would because the store managers allow them to double every coupon they have, even if for any other average customer they may only double the first 5 or some not at all! I will admit that this show is entertaining but I do not ever expect to get the results that those couponers do. I would suggest finding a good coupon match-up blog, there are plenty to choose from, some are general and others specialize in a specific store or area. Good luck!

I wish I could extreme coupon, but I rarely find useful coupons. I eat organic and it's difficult finding coupons for organic food.
