    Meal of the day

in this thread i will tell you guys what i prepared today as well as how to cook it for yourselves.
i will update this thread often with new recipes and ideas so i dont clog up the cooking section lol.

my wife is going into surgery for a week and is on a liquid diet so i made a soup with a lot of broth so she could eat some too she said it was the best soup she has ever had so her is my simple chicken noodle soup recipe.

    Chicken noodle soup
    ingredients
1 piece of chicken breast cut into thin pieces about half a pound or so
    1 qt chicken broth
    1 french onion soup mix
a dash of slap yo mamma salt( any hot sauce will do really and its completely optional)
    onion powder
    garlic powder
    cracked pepper
    serving of egg noodles
    1/4 cup butter

now to prepare this meal turn your stove to high and throw the butter in.. as its melting add all the spices and the french onion mix it should be a paste like consistency let it cook down for a minute while you stir it till it starts to brown a little an stick to the bottom of the pan just a bit . now add the chicken and mix well you want a little bit of sticking and browning to happen as this adds flavor. once the chicken is about 3/4 of the way cooked add the broth very slowly whole stirring and slightly scraping the sides to rehydrate the browned spices. bring the broth to a boil and add the noodles. once they are cooked al dente turn off heat and let it cool slightly serve with bread for a delicious filling soup with a great flavor. another member has a bread thread with some good tips on home made bread as well.

    Re: Meal of the day

now today i made a pretty simple meal but its extremely delicious. and i busted out my rotisserie which hasnt gotten much use lately. this does require a rotisserie but if you have one this chicken is to die for. i use the showtime rotisserie that i got at wal mart for 60$.

    garlic pepper chicken
    ingredients
    1 whole chicken
    1/8 cup butter
    2 garlic cloves
    garlic powder
    onion powder
    celery salt
    cracked pepper

to start crack the 2 garlic cloves with the side of your knife and throw in the cavity of the chicken next add the butter to the cavity as well.
mix all of the dry spices together in a bowl and coat the chicken with the mix on all sides. truss the chicken to the rotisserie very well cause it will shift as it cooks. newt simply allow to cook as directed by the manufacturer of the rotisserie mine requires 15 minutes per pound so for a 6 pound bird its about a hour and a half. i serve with mashed potatoes made with some of the chicken drippings for flavor. i know not everyone has a rotisserie but for those who do this recipe will become a staple believe me.

    Re: Meal of the day

I just took the chicken out of the freezer, not knowing what I wanted to do with it. I was about to search online for some recipes, then I saw the Cooking & Food Tips section, and boy, was I glad that I checked it out. Thanks for the recipes, themanikin - now I know what to do for lunch today!
