That probably fried the phone.
My daughter was luckier. I was better informed so I told her to disassembled the phone and to dry the phone thoroughly. I, however, didn't know about the rice thing so she just left the phone to dry on its own for over a week. And when she tried to turn it on, it was working. She's still using the cellphone.
the rice thing is just to accelerate the drying up process. But can be done without,a week or 2 is actually good but for impatient people 48 hours seem forever, thus usage of rice is recommended.

I'm going to share my personal experience on this. I must of been about 12 or 13 at the time we were having a pool party my mum has just bought a new Nokia phone it was all singing dancing you know take pictures, videos, games, etc etc. It was like a magic wand at the time. Well I'm sure you know where this is going to i accidently dropped it into the pool, only for about 3-5 seconds. I took it out, switched it off, took out the battery and all the front and back covers and I literally blew my lungs on it for about 30 mins till I started seeing dragons flying above the house. I wrapped it up in a towel and left it for couple of hours. What do you know? It worked perfectly and my mum never found out. It does depend on many different factors though since the phone didnt stay any longer than 5 seconds in the water it might of been that. Who really knows.

One thing I can suggest is never put it in the freezer lol My BFF had read somewhere that putting electronics in the freezer helps with water damage and boy was she wrong! It worked fine after taking it out but the second the phone started to de thaw it short circuited ( i guess because it had turned off) and there was water everywhere!!! That was definitely one of those "I told you so moments". Anyways has anyone ever tried Pastini? Its pasta shaped as really really tiny balls. Ask any italian person and they can tell you what it is. When I had dropped my iPhone in water my mom had suggested I put it in a bag of pastini and it worked. I liked it a lot better than uncooked rice since the little balls seemed to dry it quick and none got stuck.

Take the phone apart as much as you can and put it in the refrigerator. Your refrigerator, like other cooling devices, has an evaporator in it to help reduce humidity. This can work to your benefit and help you dry your phone more quickly than just drying it in the open air. Leave the phone in there for several hours to remove as much water as possible before putting it back together and powering it on.

Great tip. Yes it works. I have done the exact same thing. Let the phone sit 24 hours in uncooked rice and it will work the next morning. I never heard of the refrigerator trick. Have you tried this Novasparker? It is always good to get more tips.
